Outreach

The Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program, the United States government’s flagship program of international educational and cultural exchange, offers passionate and accomplished students and scholars in more than 160 countries the opportunity to study, teach, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to mutual understanding.

My Fulbright fellowship allowed me to expand my research and contribute to hunger eradication efforts on the African continent by preserving the biodiversity of indigenous and nutritional plants adapted to climate change. This will not only provide regional food security, but will promote science literacy, and recruit and educate the next generation of science ambassadors in sub-Saharan African countries. Ask me about Fulbright!

Explore BiGG Data REEU

The goal of the Explore BiGG Data REEU is to holistically prepare talented, diverse women for graduate programs and careers in bioinformatics, genetics and genomics. Because demand for bioinformatics capabilities throughout the food, agricultural, and natural resource sectors greatly outweighs current supply, there is a critical need for a diverse, talented workforce well trained in Bioinformatics, Genetics, and Genomic Sciences (BiGG).

This program, a powerful training combination of bioinformatics with genetics and genomic data training, will provide opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem solving, and digital competency skills. Furthermore 21st Century skills training will provide Explore BiGG Data Fellows with the communication/leadership skills needed for future employment and/or higher education.
