Welcome

Our research focuses on the population genetics of fungal plant pathogens, population biology, forest health and pathology, and native plant diversity conservation. Our research interests lie in understanding the intricacies of how plant phytobiomes are affected by host-pathogen-vector interactions and their associated microbial communities across both introduced and native ranges. We therefore utilize novel genetic and genomic tools to transform molecular data into pragmatic, management decisions to serve biodiversity conservation efforts within native tree and plant species. In addition, we have expanded to supporting hunger eradication efforts in sub-Saharan Africa by examining the genetic population structure of indigenous food security crops resilient to climate change. We collaborate globally with our African colleagues in support of their efforts to promote scientific literacy and encourage the next generation of science ambassadors in their region.
